Installation Instructions:

  • UNINSTALL any prior versions of the app prior to proceeding.
  • Install the application using the provided .exe file.
  • Load your sim FIRST, then start Jumpseat.
  • Allow access to the dedicated simserver backend to access your flight sim data. We use this data to provide you with localized radio stations.
  • Enjoy!

常见问题解答
I did not get the simserver prompt. How come?

When running Jumpseat for the first time, some users may not get the network request to allow simserver through the network. This is likely due to some antivirus programs removing the simserver dependency before it has a chance to run. If this happens to you:

  • Uninstall Jumpseat.
  • Disable your antivirus program temporarily.
  • Install Jumpseat & run it for the first time.
  • Re-enable your antivirus.
I didn’t receive a verification email. What do I do?

The email likely went to your SPAM folder. The subject line for that email is Verify Account - Jumpseat Media. Check spam, and if you still can't find it, contact us on Discord and we'll get you sorted.

    * Bugfix: fixed an issue where the nearby and favorites station lists would stop refreshing, requiring an app restart.
    * Feature: added notification bell on app title bar for future app updates. No more wondering whether there's an app update!
    * Added mute option for volume bar (click on the speaker icon) for those moments where you need to quickly silence audio.
    * Various under-the-hood improvements.

  • Version 0.2.1 February 16, 2021

    * Hotfix: implemented a fix to prevent backend processes from growing in RAM usage over time when the sim was started AFTER Jumpseat was launched.

So great! Just started in Dallas and now I know, there is a Catholic.Hiphop Radio station... and most of the music at the other stations in that area are playing Country... weird 😀

AAlter, wie geil ist das denn? Ich muss echt mal sagen. Leute ihr macht hier in Eurer Freizeit einen richtig geilen Job! Tolle Idee! Nach ein paar Klicks und Tricks, sowie Registrierung bei Jumpseat (Jumpseatmail landet im Spam) und einer Meldung "Nicht Vertrauenswürdige Software". Läuft auf jeden Fall. Egal warum. Macht, was es soll! Gute Arbeit!

While the installer file is ok, once installed I get malware warning when the program tries to launch simserver.exe for it being "Generic.Trojan.Malicious.DDS" . I do NOT think lack of certificate is the issue as I have other unsigned apps from other developers without such detection. Somethig is off about that exe. Not sure what's going on here. Howdy! Thanks for the in depth reply! A google search on AV false positives turns up quite a few examples, one specific to Virus Total: https://weblog.west-wind.com/posts/2016/oct/05/dealing-with-antivirus-false-positives. Unfortunately, they will happen, and have happened in the past to frameworks just like the one Jumpseat is built with. At the end of the day, going through every AV software and asking them to whitelist a free app may become a job in and of itself. You are right. Code signing is not the single fix. And nothing will completely prevent an app for getting false flagged. As mentioned in a previous comment, totally get the concern over a foreign app off the internet flagging AV and can even relate! I’ll be in the look out for any techniques to help minimize the risk of false positives. If you’re aware of any, I’d certainly be open! Join our discord and let’s get this fixed together! In the meantime, we won’t be offended if you choose to uninstall/delete the app 😊.

I should also mention: a future version of the app will (hopefully) remove the need for the simserver executable, so this might eventually fix itself once that happens.

Ok. Final comment as this has come up in the past and I’d like to put it to bed, at least to the best of my abilities as of today. Check out then GitHub issue on pyinstaller, one of the tools we use in developing Jumpseat: https://github.com/pyinstaller/pyinstaller/issues/4343#issuecomment-516817073. At the end of the day, it’s a judgment call that you, the user, will have to make, on whether you would like to trust the software you install or not. Cheers!

A fantastic addon! Only things I could think of wanting with it would be something to show the current song, and perhaps distortion when you have a poor signal to the station, but that's minor. This really adds a lot of immersion.

Thanks! I've thought about song names frequently. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find a service that won't cost an arm and a leg to identify the song mid-play, and there are very few streaming stations that fully publish "playing now" information. I'll be on the look out though!

Thanks for reporting this. We've had one more person report the same thing. I believe this is due to the fact that the software is not digitally signed. As signing certificates cost multiple hundreds of dollars, and the app is currently free, I don't anticipate us getting a certificate anytime soon. We hope you can still enjoy this software, but totally understand if you're not comfortable installing it.

To answer the obvious question: no, there is no malware that comes packaged with this software, and the app does not to anything more than what you can see or hear.

We thought about that, but depending on how fast you move across the world, the challenge becomes figuring out how often to change. For example, in some parts of the world, you may have 10s of stations that are nearby at any point in time...so do you then change the station every few seconds? Feels like that might get annoying at some point. What kind of feature were you thinking about?

Thank you for your response. Yes it would be annoying if stations changes every 10 sec. Maybe an option to choose automatic switch or not. And if we choose automatic switch, another option to choose how fast the stations shoold be refreshed ( for exemple every 10 min, every 30 min or every hour for example)

Do you mind hoping on our discord and sending me a screenshot when this happens again? The app refreshes stations in the background constantly, but it won't show you new stations if you aren't next to any new ones. This is especially evident in more remote places of the world, where you won't see a lot of stations to begin with. Anyway, DM me and I can have a look at it and correct anything if it's an app issue.

I'm new to MFS and noticed your mod. I'm very curious but I'm not 100% sure on it's function if you would kindly clarify. Will music be streamed from online sources as you fly? And the exciting part, if so will radio stations change if you fly from one country into another? Thanks

All audio is indeed streamed online (so it will use your internet bandwidth). As you fly, stations will update in the list itself, but you retain control as to what is actually playing.

Still very beta (only V0.2 at time of this review), but oh so much fun! I jumped around a bit - first took off in Gabarone, Botswana and burst out in happy laughter when the African DJ's banter and local pop started up right on cue. Then Bollywood music over the Taj Mahal in Agra India, then suitably grungy metal in Reykjavík Iceland. Can't believe how much it added to the immersion in VR, particularly if you're into VFR sightseeing like I am.

There are still memory issues causing MSFS to crash prematurely, with frame rates impacted too I think, and there's a real need for toolbar menu so you can change choose a radio station from within VR, but you're on to a real winner with this app.

Will return to rate in a few versions.

Thank you! We’re looking at the memory leak and hope to have a fix for that ASAP! And I hear you on the in-game toolbar. Will put that on the roadmap and prioritize it with folks on discord.
