I've been asked a few questions of the same nature so I am creating a little FAQ section that people hopefully read and find usefulInstallation Video: https://youtu.be/MyCHs1Ab4lY

Though I've since confirmed (took more effort than it should) that vPilot is not reading the config files - but MSFS is actually reading the config files to match for vPilot... The vPilot Devs have said if the config isn't correct (as in this example) then it won't match
Q: vPilot is only finding 34 models when I scan after adding the model matching file?
A: This is correct. When scanning for models it will only load the 34 or so Asobo models built into the sim currently - this is normal and is not related to liveries
Q: Some aircraft on VATSIM are invisible - is this because of the file?
A: This is a wider issue with vPilot and MSFS where on occasions, some other aircraft on VATSIM are invisible. It is not related to this file and VATSIM are working on a fix (see their forums)
Q: Sometimes Modelmatching fails to work
A: I've asked one of the guys who programs vPilot for VATSIM why this is the case, he has said he has no idea why but sometimes on MSFS the model matching just fails or gets it wrong. Best chances of modelmatching comes when running as administrator in my experience
Q: What Airlines are currently supported?
A: Check the 'Airlines Supported' Discussion on the flightsim.to page for this file
Q: Why do the liveries get mixed up?
A: According to vPilot Devs now, it is an issue with the way MSFS searches the community folder for liveries for vPilot when looking for matches. Apparently Asobo have found how to recreate the issue and will fix it in the next patch (we hope!)
Q: Why do I get so many model match fails?
A: Answered in Q3 above - BUT also - some livery creators have not added the ICAO Airline line to their config file which means it won't be able to find it anyway to match up. Make sure the liveries that are failing contain in their aircraft.cfg file the following line:
icao_airline = "add correct airline ICAO code here"
(example - icao_airline = "BAW" for British Airways)
Q: I have Premium Deluxe - which file do I use?
A: The first file you see when you extract the zip is for Premium Deluxe users - please ignore the standard edition folder that you will see as it is not for Premium Deluxe users.
Q: I have the Standard Edition - which file do I use?
A: Use the folder within the zip called Standard Edition Users Only - inside here is a specially made vmr file that does not use the 787. Use this one only as the main file will not work properly for you.
Q: vPilot updated has removed the Rescan button
A: Absolutely fine - it will still work
Q: When I type .aircraft I see lots of aircraft being ignored
A: The vPilot team have now released a BETA version of vPilot which has fixed this issue
As I mention in the description, this is not 100% perfect and will throw issues occasionally but there is no way to fix that.
According to one of the vPilot team, my file is written correctly and it should work. Over time, hopefully it will improve with MSFS and vPilot updates.
It is also free to use and shared by me as something that has improved my sim experience on VATSIM.
I have to edit this in my time whilst fitting in family life and a full time job, please understand this.
I hope you find it useful and enjoy it even if it doesn't always work as it should!
