Aerovias Brasil was an airline that was founded by then TACA (later Avianca El Salvador) and brazilian shared holder. Together with the initial original investiment, 30 DC-3s and C-47s were purchased during the wartime in 1942 (and delivered from 1945), being the first airline linking Brazil and United States.
The PP-AVJ was a c-53 originally purchased by Taca Costa Rica as TI-75 and transfered to Aerovias Brasil in 1945 and christened Bahia, following the tradition of naming aircrafts according to the brazilian states. In the 90s former Aerovias employees purchased the then decomissioned C-47 2024 from Brazilian Air Force and painted as PP-AVJ (which has a C-53 with single door on the left side) and handed to the Aviation Museum in Rio, lately been pictured in a poor condition.
