Location Manager does not break the core sim Activities for all users. This is not a Location Manager issue per se, it's an intermittent addon conflict triggered by various conditions under heavy load which can impact the MSFS UI loading routines. There is no "censorship" at all, I have more information on this conflict and current known solutions publicly listed at the top of my Location Manager Known Issues at https://sonicviz.com/project/location-manager/#title-knownissues
You can read the "Known Issues" related to Aircraft Manager anytime @
https://sonicviz.com/project/location-manager/#title-knownissues
Both kept up to date as new information comes in.
Hardly "censorship" when you publicly list Known Issues.
I even tell people upfront to read the Known Issues before buying.
Here's what happened:
- The user in the comment below this posted a public comment that gives the impression Location Manager breaks the core sim Activity function for all users. This is a false impression, it's a UI loading conflict triggered by different conditions (including other addons) that is the issue - which they didn't bother to ask about), and then disappeared with no response to my replies or me having an ability to correct this false impression.
- Comments here have the replies hidden by default, and most people are unlikely to read the hidden replies correcting any information that is wrong unless they click on "replies". Most won't. All they see is a comment stating with 100% confidence that Location Manager breaks MSFS core Activites function and is the cause, leading to the conclusion the product is crap. I have no ability to moderate this or correct that impression in the comment, and then have to jump through many hoops and waste a lot of time waiting for the poster to bother to reply to me.
- Posting a sim breaking accusation (without doing proper research or following requested bug reporting process), then not replying for days, leaves the impression it's a deliberate reputational attack. This happens a lot on the internet, most if not all developers experience this more than once, as I have I on this page before which is why I have Zero tolerance for it anymore. As I was under the impression this was such a reputational attack I blocked the user, which apparently also blocks their replies to you. No matter, I'm always contactable via the channels I tell users to, but never received any contact at all.
- Not answering any of my questions (where bought etc) in a timely manner after posting such a comment, and not submitting a bug report via the requested channels
- All this could have been avoided by following the process I ask all users to do if they have an issue - use the support form on the product website to contact me and we'll sort it out. Support form is always open and not affected by user blocking on this site at all.
I have no problem receiving bug or issue reports but I can't abide being falsly accused of breaking core sim functionality with no ability to effectively moderate comments that do that. Moderation is not censoring, it's an editing function that is used to keep things focused.
I have now deleted this free product from flightsim.to as a result.
Please respect developers time and effort, and be aware the impact your comments may have before you make them. The products may be free to you, but developers spend a lot of time/resources making them.
Report bugs or issues you are having via official bug report and product support channels. That's what they're for.
Finally, I like happy customers.
I have refunded the customers purchase, as they are not happy. /fin.
Happy flying.

Response to @sonicwiz.
That is an extremely rude way to approach your customers:
Here is a video of the issue that you are accusing me of being false.
https://youtu.be/MEKc8YyFDws
It is an unlisted video, as you can see the LocationManager does cause a problem, on a clean install of MSFS Store version. The AircraftManager has no issues as you can see.
Now, you can APOLOGIZE for being rude to me, your paying customer and we can work together to solve this conflict. You can also ask me nicely and without THREATHS to delete the message so potential customers will not see the way you approach and treat your customers. Let me know how you want to proceed.
I've been nothing but honest, I have absolutely no interest to lie about anything, since I bought both your products.
Lastly I had to edit this message because you have DISABLED my REPLY function. What a terrible way to deal with customers when there is a problem. I did not file a bug report because I was hoping it is a simple fix and you can help me here. Censoring your customers is not the right way to do it. Waiting to hear from you.

Installed the addon and it says found 105 aircrafts, but there's none shown in the list. Screenshot: www.willynanita.com/files/am.png

Please make sure you read the Known Issues section on https://sonicviz.com/project/aircraft-manager/ as well as the Installation instructions.
It's possible you are using the Modern UI addon, which is a known conflict.
Modern UI has not been updated for some time and does not appear to be supported any longer, as noted by the MU developer themselves on https://flightsim.to/file/22352/ms-fs-2020-modern-ui-2-0 (Scroll to just above the comments)
" The author does currently not recommend downloading this file and has unlisted it. This may be due to several reasons, for example, the file may need to be updated."

It would be nice having the feature to store automatically last location (airport where the plane has been left) like Xplane used to do by default

Thanks for the feedback.
It's not always possible to implement features due to sim and/or sdk limitations, so it's best not to assume that's it's possible to implement things that you might personally want. Not sure why that warrants downrating a free addon that helps you solve other issues now.

Finally. Paid for pro version as tired of flicking through 4 lots of control menus each change and having to change them. Now it just select the plane from presets menu, love it - well done, worth the money.

Can you make it so it would be possible to change plane after flight has begun? Much like you can do it when in devmode. In dev mode you can change plane and livery at the same time.
I've looked into that and so far can't find a way to emulate what they are doing in developer mode to do that. I suspect it's custom code they have hooked into the developer mode, but will keep poking at it and maybe I'll have a lightbulb moment.
In the meantime, just use developer mode to switch planes.
Not ideal, but at least it's an option.

Please complete your app and add favorite livery of aircraft and five star column for favorite location and also aircraft and also livery
9 months ago
Thanks for your feedback (and rating), they're all great ideas.
>>Liveries
We're limited as to what can be implemented by the underlying MSFS UI framework, as we're building on top of that. I've looked into the livery system previously, and it's not possible to change how it currently works ie: you only have access to the liveries of the selected plane. So they currently can't be added into the main aircraft manager grid. It may be able to revamp the livery interface similar to the grid interface though, so I'll add that to the list to see what's possible in future.
>>Favorites
Favorites are a included in the pro versions already. Favourites are a simple on/off binary choice, it's a different use case from a rating system, more granular.
I hadn't considered a more fine grained star type personal rating system, but I'll add that into the list to look into sometime as well.
Mar 2023: Favorites are now part of the free version.
However, you have access to 1 character tags in the free version, which is (in english) 26 alphabet characters + 10 digits. You can easily devise a personal system using these to favourite and or rate your aircraft with these, and use sorting on them organise. eg: use 1 to 5 tags to rank your planes, with 1 being the most favorite, and down from there. Thanks for your input!
Happy flying.

Any chance Location Manager could be used to specify custom cold and dark start locations? Still searching for something that will let us put seaplanes anywhere on the water, put a STOL plane on the ground out in the wilderness, and generally just the ability to land a plane, save the location, and load it up again later in said location... I do not understand why something so simple and essential eludes us this long after release
10 months ago
Not currently, maybe downstream. As a primarily STOL pilot (and low level racer) myself I understand what you mean, but it's actually not that simple to implement, which is why you don't see it.
My current approach is to start in the air anywhere, land anywhere, and go from there. This is why the current location manager teleport is set to teleport you to 1000' AGL at a saved location, so you can land quickly, if you wish. Landing practice is always good, especially STOL😜
Then you can reset to cold & dark, touch n' go, or whatever you wish to do.
I'll copy.pasta my FAQ Q&A that addresses this from https://sonicviz.com/project/location-manager/
Q: Can I save specific airport gates or ground points as cold & dark start locations?
A: Short answer: not currently. Long answer: Location Manager is intended to be a generalised location manager for storage and retrieval of locations, to act as a starting point for your next flight. The intent is to zoom back to the saved location, THEN you manually select what you want to do for the flight by another click as per normal map use: start in the air in the general area, select a specific parking spot for a cold and dark, select a runway, select a water runway (in the case of a location with both land & water runways), or select the airport and let the sim decide the runway. In fly mode, you can teleport to saved locations at 1000' AGL, then decide what to do.
While there’s a use case for doing fine grained location saves like the latter examples, similar to the start of a flight plan depature setup, LM is not intended to do that. I’m also offsetting that custom location “Go” marker from the original lat/long so the new zoomed “Go” custom marker doesn’t obscure the original maker in the case of it being a POI/Airport/City etc.
All that said, LM is a work in progress and R&D to cover use cases like the Q above is ongoing. Stay tuned.
