Wanted to do something different in MSFS2020.
Decided to try and make a tribute to one of my childhood favorites and went in search of reference material for the Cloudbase Headquarters from Gerry Andersons “Captain Scarlet" series back in the late sixties.
Although there are lots of images of “Cloudbase's” not many are of the original, therefore i have improvised or guessed at a lot of the details based on the good images I had found.
There's still a lot of room for improvement with details and such but I wanted to get this out there as it's a lot of fun to try to land on and I suspect there are many other Gerry Anderson fans out there in the Flight Sim community that will appreciate this addition.
The biggest problem was not being able to elevate a standard MSFS airfield to an altitude above ground level (without terraforming the underlying terrain up to that altitude)
After a lot of trial and error i managed to make a Cloudbase that can be used as a starting point for 2 Helicopter pads and works for landing Aircraft .
Hint: You can also start as a helicopter and, if in developer mode, change your Heli for a Aircraft.
Many thanks go out to Federico Pinotti for his tutorial on Helipads which helped to get this working.
Also many thanks to MyPhysical World for his tutotial on Animating blender lights for in the sim for the landing lights.
Not wanting to get any problems with copyrighted material I also gained permission to use this model derived from their imagery from the Gerry Anderson website, as long as there was no money being made, they were only too happy for me to publish this on Flightsim.to as a homage to Gerry Anderson.
Not having had a fixed location in the Captain Scarlet world, I decided to station it above the old AP films studio in Ipswich where Captain Scarlet was filmed in 1967 which seemed a fitting place for it to be.
Although according to documentation the operating altitude was 40,000 feet, to make it accessible for the light aircraft I use in the Sim, I took the liberty of lowering it to 11,500 feet.
The ICAO code for the Cloudbase is HSPEC (Helipad-Spectrum) and there are 2 pads to choose from.
Hope you all enjoy this add-on and there will be update's when I get around to doing them.
I just love this scenery addon. Completely ridiculous but so essential for a anyone who grew up watching these classic Gerry Anderson creations. Hopefully we'll get a Tracy Island addon at some point which would be great fun! Thanks you for this!

Thank you :-)
Took a few Ytube tutorials to figure it out but actually not so difficult once you know how :-)

Very cool!! Love the bit of history too, I wonder if the guys at Protyre in Slough know the what happened behind closed doors, back in the day

Great, takes me back to my childhood. Note, that in my system I have to climb to 11,000 feet to land on "Cloudbase" as opposed to 3500 feet mentioned in your description. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Hmmm.. thats strange, maybe it should be meters? That seems to be 11,700ft..
I will have to check that out when i do a WU13 build. Thanks for the heads up.. :-)
