SBA Airlines (formerly known as: Santa Bárbara Airlines) was a Venezuelan airline based in the Tokay Building in Caracas, Miranda State.1 It had its main hub at the Simón Bolívar Maiquetia International Airport in Maiquetia, La Guaira State serving Caracas. The company served international destinations to various points within the Americas and Europe, together with Aserca Airlines, PAWA Dominicana and Línea Turística Aereotuy formed the Condor Group.
After twenty-three years of uninterrupted operation, Santa Bárbara Airlines returned its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to the National Institute of Civil Aviation of Venezuela (INAC), thus formalizing the closing of its doors in the context of the strong economic and political crisis in which the South American country is immersed.
Despite its definitive suspension being announced only now, since January the airline had its license temporarily revoked by the Venezuelan authorities for not being able to comply with its itinerary due to the country's financial conditions, making it impossible to import parts for the maintenance of its fleet, the payment of aircraft leases, among other factors.
Thanks for the livery. I remember well, a similar aircraft (maybe the same reg.) crashed into a mountain in Merida, Venezuela, just after taking off from A Carnevalli airport, back in 2005, as far as I remember
