This folder contains a repaint for the Spitfire Mk.IX by FlyingIron, in the colors of Spitfire LF IXc G-ASJV as it looked between 1963 and 1967 when owned by Tim Davies. Originally MH434, it originally flew as ZD-B of No.222 (Natal) Squadron as flown by Flt Lt. Henry Lardner-Burke, DFC. He shot down at least two German aircraft while flying MH434. The aircraft later served with No 350 and again with No 222 squadrons. After the war, MH434 went to the Royal Dutch Air Force, where it flew as H-105 with 322 squadron in Java, Indonesia. In 1953 it went to the Belgian Air Force, becoming SM-41 and flying from Koksijde and Brustem. In 1956 is was bought by Cogea and used for tarrget towing. In 1963 it was bought for 2000 pounds by Tim Davies and it came back to the UK as G-ASJV, flying in the colors of this repaint. Amazingly, he was only 25 at the time. He sold it in 1967 for 9000 pounds to Hamish Mahaddie, who was buying Spitfires for the movie Battle of Britain. It flew the movie A Bridge Too Far as well. In 1983 it was sold to Ray Hanna and became part of the Old Flying Machine Company, where it still is, based at Duxford. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom. There is an odd patch of paint on the rudeer, not sure where that is coming from (yet).
