Through their Discord server, FlyByWire has shared a brand new video of their much-anticipated Airbus A380 for Micorosft Flight Simulator, also known as A380X. Being one of the most-anticipated addons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the video showcases miscellaneous cockpit animations, textures, and even functioning systems. It is important to note, that the video is primarily meant to showcase the progress the team is making, not the final product.
The video begins with an overall showcase of the flight deck and then moves to showcase the centre pedestal in detail. Already there, it is evident how much effort the team put into the textures. The focus then shifts to the overhead panel where some buttons are already functional, signalling available external power.
Later in the video, we can also glimpse over the MCP panel with again, realistic wear & tear detail on both the displays and materials aside. During the video, to tease the community a bit, the developers have additionally turned on the electronics to showcase the displays.
The video also puts attention to the cockpit seat and nearby Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and openable window. Whilst you might not use it on every flight, FlyByWire has even animated the armrest. On the EFB, we can also notice a message saying that SimBrief plan is not loaded yet, suggesting we will be able to fetch flight plans directly from SimBrief to the EFB, and perhaps also then uplink it to the MCDU.
For now, we do not know when is the addon going to release. It is, however, going to be freeware. If you want to learn more about the A380X for MSFS, you can read my previous article from last month by clicking here.
