Community Creator Levath brings a new addition to your virtual hangars with the release of the A380-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator - ported from Microsoft Flight Simulator X. The A380-800, as ported to Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020), features the cockpit of an A320NEO (default) and includes one livery, with additional options available in a separately provided Livery Pack. A Simbrief profile is also included. Future updates are planned to enhance textures and overall cleanliness of the model. However, users should note a couple of current limitations: only the animations for engines 1 and 2 are operational, and the model does not emit light.
Installation instructions are provided via a YouTube link, and the creator is open to receiving comments and bug reports through direct messages on flightsim.to or via their Discord server. This port owes its existence to the foundational work by CanadianMods and was created under Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules, utilizing assets from Flight Simulator X and Microsoft Flight Simulator. As of January 02, 2024, the file has seen almost 1000 downloads.
Meanwhile, two highly anticipated more professional releases of the Airbus A380 are underway, developed by iniBuilds and FlyByWire, respectively. However, both iniBuilds and FlyByWire have not yet provided a specific timeline for their A380's release. FlyByWire is working on a highly detailed simulation of the Airbus A380, announced back in 2020 and is committed to developing the A380 as a non-commercial product, while iniBuilds lately announced a complete overhaul of the A380 model, deciding to rebuild it from scratch and development is proceeding alongside the development of their also announced Airbus A350 - as commercial product.
