Community Creator vbazillio has recently released a remarkable freeware scenery on Flightsim.to, introducing the stunning Monument Valley Airport (UT25) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Monument Valley Airport (UT25) stands as the sole airstrip nestled within the iconic and picturesque Monument Valley, Utah. Boasting an elevation of 5,192 feet MSL and positioned at the base of a towering 700-foot mesa, this airport immediately captures the imagination. The runway, spanning 4,000 feet, offers a one-way-in and one-way-out approach.
When piloting into Monument Valley Airport, you'll find yourself landing uphill on runway 16. The absence of a reasonable go-around option on short final makes each landing attempt a high-stakes endeavor. Furthermore, the narrow and sloping runway 34 presents an additional challenge during takeoff. As you navigate this desert altitude-density environment, remember to carefully manage your aircraft's density altitude, paying attention to mixture and lean controls. The Monument Valley Airport scenery brings a host of enhancements that go beyond the default autogen airport provided by Microsoft Flight Simulator. Some of the notable additions include a custom-made airport building featuring a restroom and hangar, the presence of a Hogan Navajo (a traditional dwelling of the Navajo people) visible from the apron, and wire ropes/cables on the transient apron for aircraft security. The default windsock has been replaced with two real windsocks — one on the apron and another along the mid runway. The re-textured aprons, parking areas, and runway feature corrected markings and asphalt that reflect the visible history of the location.
Take to the virtual skies and explore Monument Valley Airport — where breathtaking views meet piloting skill. Download now for free - but leave a donation to the creator if you enjoyed this airfield.
