Synaptic Simulations has announced a new partnership with iniBuilds that will transform the development of the A220 aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Originally conceived as a free, open-source project, the A220 is set to take a new direction as it moves into the payware market, with plans for release on both PC and Xbox in the future. In their official statement, Synaptic Simulations explained the rationale behind this decision. They cited the project's immense potential and the increasing development demands faced by their team, especially during busy and challenging times. By collaborating with iniBuilds, they believe they can bring the A220 to Microsoft Flight Simulator without compromising quality and do so in a more expedited timeframe compared to the original open-source approach.
The first model to be released under this new payware model will be the A22X-300, with subsequent variants like the A22X-100 and ACJ slated to arrive as free upgrades for customers who purchase the base package once they become available. Synaptic Simulations acknowledged that this shift might be met with mixed feelings from their community, as the project was initially promised as a free and open-source add-on. However, they emphasized their commitment to delivering the best possible A220 experience and asked for continued support from their dedicated fanbase.
To address any questions and concerns from the community, Synaptic Simulations will soon publish a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. They encourage anyone with inquiries to reach out, and they intend to keep their followers updated on the project's progress.
